It's that time of the... when-it-happens again! It's time to read the latest Haiku newsletter, which has been available for a few days now. In this issue, there's only one article, an editorial by Michael Phipps himself, covering the Haiku Challenges. It's a long, but interesting read. One noteworthy part is this one:

"The non-profit aspect of Haiku is also something of a challenge. In 2007 our provisionary status as a not-for-profit organization ends and we have to show that we deserve to keep our status. We need to build a board of directors that adds significant value to the organization, who can assist with the non-core things that need to be done such as marketing, finance, legal work, etc."

As for Rudolf, he updated his blog with some new tests he did, concerning the bandwidth of RAM access. He was trying to check the speed of his driver compared to the Windows official one, trying to find out where a possible bottleneck was. The results?

(6000 / 225) * (29.9 - 26.3) = 96 fps. (Windows measured value = 119 fps)

That's for the GeForce4MX, the NV18. As Rudolf concludes, that not only shows that the RAM access speed is actually good in BeOS but that a bottleneck should be present in the GPU access itself. I'm sure Rudolf, given a few more days or couple of weeks will track down said bottleneck and blow that mother up (i.e. fix it).
